Fiche technique

In english: EMERGENCY CARE IN TACTICAL SITUATIONS for the police & first aiders

TECC® (Tactical Emergency Casualty Care) was developed by NAEMT (National Association of Emergency Medical Technicians)

It is based on the guidelines of the TECC committee and the TCCC program (Tactical Combat Casualty Care)

NAEMT TECC takes lessons from the military and applies them to civilian tactical medicine challenges, providing a common approach across the entire stakeholder chain. TECC® (Tactical Emergency Casualty Care) focuses on casualty care in tactical situations and develops guidelines for civilian tactical incident management.

It makes it possible to understand difficult situations outside the daily environment of a pre-hospital responder, in particular during an incident involving a large number of victims or during an incident with an active shooter (AMOK)

The TECC course offers a comprehensive and interdisciplinary approach to risk and danger over a day when rescue teams cannot rule out deliberate and targeted threats.

  • Care under direct threat: immediate care in case of attack or under adverse conditions;

  • Healing under an indirect threat: the threat has been removed but can reappear at any time;

  • Care in a secure area and evacuation: pre-hospital care conditions are considered normal.

he TECC is aimed at civilian pre-hospital responders (doctors, nurses, paramedics, ambulance technicians, first aiders, law enforcement, firefighters, etc.). It is also intended for security forces, surveillance and protection personnel. The level of medicalization of the gestures taught is adapted to the professional profile of the different candidates.  The training alternates theoretical presentations focused on physiopathology, practical workshops devoted to clinical situations encountered in the field and many realistic scenarios involving all participants. Dare to debrief the intervention, know how to be benevolent, build solidarity, be able to question yourself, try to evolve… These are also the learning objectives of the TECC.

A good physical condition and solid prerequisites make it possible to adapt to training situations and the environment of the course.
